La radiaci\u00f3n de dicha explosi\u00f3n alcanz\u00f3 la Tierra; los rayos gamma golpearon la ion\u00f3sfera y crearon m\u00e1s ionizaci\u00f3n, lo que expandi\u00f3 brevemente la ion\u00f3sfera. El magnetar liber\u00f3 m\u00e1s energ\u00eda en una d\u00e9cima de segundo que lo que el Sol ha liberado en 100,000 a\u00f1os. Tal explosi\u00f3n es considerada una de las mayores observadas por el hombre en la galaxia desde la supernova <em>SN 1604<\/em> observada por Johannes Kepler en 1604.
